Inside Homes:
The water for in-home use in The Villages is regulated by Southwest Florida water management, St. Johns River Water District and the Florida Environmental Protection Agency. The city depends on the city of Orlando for water and waste water treatment and distribution. Ways in which the water in homes is distributed include potable water mains, sanitary sewer mains, sanitary force mains, manholes and lift stations.
Energy
The Villages is a supporter of using green energy within the community. Some main contributors include solar energy, nuclear energy, natural gas and landfill methane.
Waste
The Villages offers its residents curbside pick up for any rubbish, hazardous waste or recyclables. They take pride in keeping the community sterile.
The Waste Management company picks up any disposables for a $17.50 monthly fee. The company deposits the items at the appropriate sites and then uses the gases emitted from landfills to generate power for the community.
